Vince Clarke speaks for the first time about his split with Alf, the last Yazoo album and his future as a record company mogul!
Vince Clarke received a letter the other day. It was postmarked Basildon and addressed to the Yazoo Fan Club – one of the many missives inquiring about the new album or bearing a four-sheet questionnaire for Alison and Vince to fill in if they don’t mind.
It was taken home with the rest of the mail and as the first tear was made in the envelope a few white specks tumbled out, almost like seeds. Another inch and more of the tiny pips fluttered to the carpet. Then the envelope was fully open. Out dropped a dead and decaying bird riddled with maggots and their eggs. It was accompanied by a simple message – “This is for you”.
